America’s 2017 hurricane season was ranked to be one of the most dreadful seasons reported in America’s history. Starting the season off with Harvey, which hit the coast of Texas on August 17. 63 people reported dead after Harvey. Following was Hurricane Irma, which hit Florida, and leaving 75 reported dead. Many people lost their life possessions, and many lost loved one. Leaving these states with billions of dollars in damages.

As many of Bluejays were aware of spirit week which proceed into homecoming, coins were collected in hopes to help out the innocent victim of the hurricanes. “Raytown STUCO is planning to sell T-shirts, which are said to be priced at $10. The money will be raised for the victims that were impacted during the hurricanes, Marloh Mayfield, junior class president, said.

Despite the distance of the hurricane from Raytown, many students had loved ones and family members who were impacted during the recent storms. Not to mention the major increase of gasoline prices in the month of September.

The hurricanes created great damage to the affected areas. Donating money by purchasing a t-shirt from STUCO, and support our school. Remember, a little goes a long way.
